Renewed Sense of Purpose: Volksgemeinshaft
Thursday, October 1st, 2009
Senator Henry Cabot Lodge wrote in 1907, “I do not believe that this Nation was an accident. I do not believe that it is the creation of blind chance. I have faith that it has a great mission in the world– a mission of good, a mission of freedom.”
America was successful for generations as it had a great sense of purpose- a shared sense of community, Volksgemeinshaft. Patriots stood together for Liberty in the Revolution; Manifest Destiny compelled Americans to settle the West; the United States has supported the cause of Freedom with its sweat and blood internationally since becoming a world power. The United States was founded on the principles of Biblical morality and constitutional republican government. Our heritage is rooted in Western Civilization, primarily of the Anglo-Saxon variety. Our laws are derived from Christian theology and English is our official language.
Without a shared sense of purpose, a Nation begins to drift like a ship broken from its moorings. Multiculturalism has proved a failure and destroyed nations from Rome to Austria-Hungary, from the Soviet Union to Yugoslavia and Czecho-Slovakia. The American Republic must return to its traditional foundations in order to prosper again. Read again Dr King’s speeches on a colorblind American society where all God’s creation have the opportunity to enjoy the liberties to keep the fruits of their labor as they build stable homes and communities.
