Concerning
Derrick G. Hinson Sr. grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, graduating from North Forsyth High School in 1982. His father moved their family there after serving in the Air Force. His parents were originally from rural Surry County. He and his wife, Pam, have been married since 1983 and continue to live in Forsyth County. They have a daughter, now out on her own, and a son, recently a college graduate and serving in the Tennessee Air National Guard.
After nine years in a textiles mill with Hanes Dye & Finishing, Derrick graduated from High Point University (1995) with a BA in History/Political Science. He was an insurance agent for six years with NC Farm Bureau and has been a History teacher at SW Guilford High School since 2001. He graduated from American Military University (2007) with a MA in American Civil War Studies.
Hinson became a Christian in 1989, serving in various youth ministries, before answering the call to preach the Gospel in 1998. After Bible College and seven years in Evangelism and radio ministry, Brother Derrick became pastor of King Community Church (2005) in Stokes County.
“I became politically aware at 15; Sen. Jesse Helms and President Ronald Reagan were my early heroes. As a conservative, I was drawn to the Republican Party. I joined the John Birch Society during the Cold War. I have supported the National Rifle Association and the Sons of Confederate Veterans heritage organization. I served as a precinct chair and put out campaign signs for my local state house representative.
My first campaign venture came when I ran for the NC State House in 2004. The Bush II years left me disillusioned with the GOP. No fiscal responsibility; an expanded Medicare prescription plan; education policy written by Ted “Chappy” Kennedy; and abject failure on illegal immigration policy. In 2007, I wrote For The Cause: Spiritual Revival In America because I am concerned with the direction of our constitutional republic. In it, I make the case that America prospered culturally, as well as economically, due to its Biblical Christian foundation. Radical Republicans and Modern Liberals labored to undermine the Constitution; now, Humanists, in control of the Public Education system, have led three generations down a Godless amoral path. Our Christian Republic has jumped off the tracks. America is speeding toward a Socialist World Government void of traditional socio-political values. Without spiritual revival, America faces the ash heap of History; but it is not too late to save American culture and our free way of life.
The home, the Church, and the Government, shape society and culture. All face serious problems in the day in which we live. The Church must remain committed to making evil men good and leading the Lost to the redemptive Cross. Committed Christians will build families and homes that reflect traditional values for the greater community. Reborn folks go out and remake society mobilizing secular organizations to take the required action for its improvement.
In your home; in your place of worship; and working through various political and fraternal organizations; I encourage you with this site to become more aware of our common American Heritage and get involved with the effort to right the ship now for the sake of future generations.”
