America LAST!: The Bizarro World
Author: admin
The Obama administration announced in May the United States will join the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
The group was created in 2006 to “find ways to bridge the growing divide between Muslim and Western societies”. The U.S. decision is also meant to support the Alliance goal of “improved understanding and cooperative relations among nations and peoples,” the White House statement said.
The UNAofC claimed in its first report in 2006 that global tensions were “driven primarily by the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Authority….” and “a perception among Muslim societies of unjust aggression stemming from the West”. In other words, it is Anti-Israel and Anti-West.
This action is to further Obama’s “vision of active U.S. engagement with other nations and international organizations”; a goal sometimes pursued, noted National Review Online columnist Brett D. Schaefer last Thursday, “even when there is little or no chance that doing so will advance U.S. interests.”
In 2006, the Bush Administration boycotted the group, expressing concerns “that it would become a forum for bashing both Israel and the United States, in a manner similar to that of the [anti-Israel] U.N. Human Rights Commission.” The Obama Administration has since joined that UN Commission as well.
With a year in office, Obama has worked hard to reach out to the Islamic community of nations with gestures that make it clear he is “bending over backwards” to strengthen ties with the Muslim world. Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan wrote last month that ” “Barack Obama may have declared America is not a “Christian nation”… But Woodrow Wilson said, “America was born a Christian nation”, and Harry Truman wrote Pope Pius XII to affirm, “This is a Christian nation.” ”
There is nothing wrong with having positive relations with nations who desire friendly relations with ours, but not at the expense of our historical culture and future liberties.
The “America Last” Crowd is incrementally destroying the greatest Nation ever to exist by undermining our historical foundations, our culture, and our free enterprise system of economics.
The 1990’s saw the sell-out of our manufacturing and textile base with “Free-Trade ” agreements. Its hard to remain patriotic when the playing fields are so unequal. We have minimum wage laws, OSHA, Worker’s Comp, and rising health insurance costs. Labor costs drove these industries out of the country. Foreign oil dependence hurts america in like manner. Much of the fuel our Nation buys funds Governments who remain anti-West and anti-Israel.
The voters of this Republic better wake up before it is too late and our children wind up in some bizarro world that runs counter to everything we grew up with.
